Connecting PS3 to Samsung monitor with HDMI cable + HDMI to DVI adaptor

I have 3 PS3 and 3 Monitors, the one to the left is the newest PS3 which i got recently (May 2009) and for some reason I can't seem to get it to run with the Samsung SyncMaster 226BW via HDMI cable with a HDMI to DVI adapter/converter. But when I connect the middle PS3 (bought it in September 2008) via HDMI cable with a HDMI to DVI adapter/converter to the Samsung SyncMaster 226BW, it works and I get images. However when I connect the left PS3 via HDMI cable with a HDMI to DVI adapter/converter to the middle monitor Samsung T220HD, it also works and I get image. Anyone know why? I'm suspecting newer generation of PS3 doesn't connect with old monitors via HDMI to DVI adapter/converter? Thankss
